چکیده
A bstract Feebly interacting thermal relics are promising dark matter candidates. Among them, scenarios of inelastic Dark Matter evade direct detection by suppressed elastic scattering off atomic nuclei. We introduce Dirac , a new model with two fermions in the MeV-GeV mass range. At feeble couplings, can depart from chemical as well kinetic equilibrium Standard Model before freeze-out. In this case, freeze-out is driven conversion processes like coscattering, rather than coannihilation. show that consistent cosmological observations, particular nucleosynthesis and cosmic microwave background. Inelastic Dark Matter ∗
Many observations suggest that much of the matter of the universe is nonbaryonic. Recently, the DAMA NaI dark matter direct detection experiment reported an annual modulation in their event rate consistent with a WIMP relic. However, the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) Ge experiment excludes most of the region preferred by DAMA. We demonstrate that if the dark matter can only scatter by mak...
متن کاملDirac Neutrino Dark Matter
We investigate the possibility that dark matter is made of heavy Dirac neutrinos with mass m ∈ [O(1) GeV– a few TeV] and with suppressed but non-zero coupling to the Standard Model Z as well as a coupling to an additional Z ′ gauge boson. The first part of this paper provides a model-independent analysis for the relic density and direct detection in terms of four main parameters: the mass, the ...
متن کاملPseudo-Dirac dark matter leaves a trace.
Pseudo-Dirac dark matter is a viable type of dark matter which originates from a new Dirac fermion whose two Weyl states get slightly split in mass by a small Majorana term. The decay of the heavier to the lighter state naturally occurs over a detectable length scale. Thus, whenever pseudo-Dirac dark matter is produced in a collider, it leaves a clear trace: a visible displaced vertex in associ...
متن کاملAn Effective Theory of Dirac Dark Matter
A stable Dirac fermion with four-fermion interactions to leptons suppressed by a scale Λ ∼ 1 TeV is shown to provide a viable candidate for dark matter. The thermal relic abundance matches cosmology, while nuclear recoil direct detection bounds are automatically avoided in the absence of (large) couplings to quarks. The annihilation cross section in the early Universe is the same as the annihil...
متن کاملHalo-independent methods for inelastic dark matter scattering
We present halo-independent methods to analyze the results of dark matter direct detection experiments assuming inelastic scattering. We focus on the annual modulation signal reported by DAMA/LIBRA and present three different halo-independent tests. First, we compare it to the upper limit on the unmodulated rate from XENON100 using (a) the trivial requirement that the amplitude of the annual mo...
